Joey Montagna Says In-Season Free Agency Meetings and Decisions Should Be Private AAP

Former St Kilda champion Joey Montagna says that negotiations that take place between free agents and opposing clubs clubs should not be made public.

Speaking on his show Dead Set Legends with Jay Clark, Joey used the handling of the Tom Lynch situation to argue that these conversations should remain confidential because it allows clubs and supporters to maintain hope.

“Players are meeting clubs all the time, but you don’t come out publicly,” Joey said.

“I don’t want players to come out and say they’re leaving because you want to have hope.”

Joey and Jay-Z also agreed with Chris Judd’s comments — in regards Gold Coast owing Tom Lynch an apology — on the Friday Huddle last night.
