The excitement over snow flurries on Bluff Knoll turned to alarm when a man became lost on WA's chilliest peak.
The 81-year-old was reported missing after 7.30pm last night when he failed to return from his hike.
There were concerns for his welfare due to the extreme weather front passing through the Great Southern, bringing icy temperatures.
Police eventually made contact with him on his mobile phone and he was able to give them a rough idea of his whereabouts.
He was finally located around 1.00am in a gully just off the main track.
Thankfully, he was in a reasonably good condition despite a cut on his leg.
