Man Awoken By Tumbling Bricks As Car Hits House

A car has crashed into a house in Carlisle, allegedly as the driver was trying to escape police.

It's alleged the 23-year-old driver has been signalled to stop by officers along Shepperton Road in Victoria Park around 2.20am.

Police allege the driver failed to do so, instead accelerating away before losing control and smashing into a house on the corner of Oats and Jupiter Streets in Carlisle.

Four people inside the home woke up, one had been hit by falling bricks and suffered a minor injury, while the house itself was extensively damaged.

The driver has been charged with exceed 0.05 per cent , failing to comply with a direction to stop; and reckless driving to escape pursuit by police.

She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 31 August.
